Together, we will work toward your goals. We believe that each patient is unique,
and tailor your care to match your needs. Our goal is to help you, be “you”, once again.
Treatment includes a thorough diagnostic evaluation and development of an individualized treatment plan with you. We provide medication initiation, short and long-term medication management for symptom management and relief. As nurse practitioners, we work closely with your personal therapist, when desired, to optimize your care. Though medication may be a treatment option, we also believe non-pharmacological treatment is essential to wellness and offer integrative, peptide therapies, nutritional, and supplement recommendations.
We utilize specialized genetic testing when appropriate or/and when requested by you, to evaluate your genetic profile and what medications will best suit your body, as well as to help develop potential treatment strategies tailored uniquely to you. We also often run lab work as well to evaluate for other physical conditions that may be responsible for your symptoms. Our lab testing is in-depth, and not what you'd normally get at your yearly physical.
We care for patients ages 10 and up, and value a person's experience in all stages and walks of life.
After 17 years as an ER, ICU, and as a flight nurse, Karen witnessed first-hand the toll that physical illness, stress, and trauma can take on mental health. She realized the lack of available mental health resources that tailor to first responders and their families. Primary care often gives medications that are too sedating for people to perform their jobs, or have such significant side effects that they often worsen the issue! Nobody should have to settle and accept feeling like a lesser version of themselves in order to "treat" their mental health. It should be the exact opposite. At ReThink Mental Health and Wellness, our goal is to change this dynamic and make your care the priority that it has always needed to be, and make you feel like the person you are seeking to be. As current and former first responders and ER ourselves, we've witnessed first-hand the toll that physical illness, stress, and trauma can take on mental health. As board certified psychiatric nurse practitioners, our goal is to fill the gap in lack of available mental health resource, both for the community and for first responders. Some of the mental health conditions include Depression, Anxiety, Substance use and Addiction, Trauma, PTSD, DMMD, ODD, Sleep disorders, ADHD and other learning disorders, Bipolar disorders, OCD, personality disorders, Eating disorders, Autistic disorders, Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. We will utilize a variety of treatment types to achieve your goals, including talk therapy, dream analysis, lifestyle changes and very selective use of medications.
We have been conditioned to believe that we need to tough it out, and that difficult situations, horrific calls, sleepless nights, and substance use come with the job. I am here to tell you, that this is the greatest lie we have allowed ourselves to believe. It is isolating and lonely. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. We became nurse practitioners to change this belief, and normalize seeking help. Some of the “strongest” people you know have walked the very road you, or your family members may find themselves on today. Strength isn’t born from an easy life. It is born by growth out of adversity. There is hope. Reaching out for help is the first step on this road.
Mental health is more than just emotions and coping skills. It means understanding all aspects of your unique journey. There is only one you, and you matter. Your physical, spiritual, and mental health all are a part of who you are, and an imbalance in one, affects the others. We provide a safe and judgment-free environment for you to explore the issues at hand. We are here to see you, as a whole person, and that means incorporating your personal values into your treatment.
